Pastoral Care Services

Associate Chaplain Program
Associate Chaplains are area Clergy who volunteer their time in offering Pastoral Care to patients, patients’ family, and staff of Halifax Regional Hospital. Associate Chaplains commit to on-call coverage three weeks a year. Associate Chaplains carry a pager provided by Pastoral Care Services through which they are paged upon need and/or request.

Continued education and training is provided for Associate Chaplains through Pastoral Care Services on an ongoing basis.

Requirements:
Persons serving the Associate Chaplain Program shall have Ordination/License or Endorsement by their Faith Group or be enrolled in Religious or Theological Studies in a College or School of Theological Studies, have life experience in ministry setting and/or specialized training for ministry. All Associate Chaplains are required to attend a Hospital Orientation and Pastoral Care Services Training.
