Direct access testing

Direct access testing is a service offered to the community in which an individual, without a doctor’s order, may walk in, order his own test, pay a small fee, and receive confidential results.

Tests available:

  • Glucose.
  • Drug Screen.
  • Mono Test.
  • Complete Blood Count (CBC).
  • Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA).
  • Prothrombin time (PT).
  • Liver Panel.
  • Cholesterol.
  • Urinalysis.
  • Wellness Screen.
  • Metabolic panel.
  • Hepatitis B Titer.
  • Lyme Disease.
  • Arthritis Panel.
  • Lipid Profile.
  • Strep Screen.
  • Blood Type.
  • Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH).
  • TB Exposure.
  • Hemoglobin A1c (Hgb A1c).
  • HIV.

Our direct access testing lab is located in the main laboratory at Halifax Regional Hospital. It is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. through 6:30 p.m. Individuals seeking lab tests must be 18 years old or older. For more information, call (434) 517-3865.
