Education
Patient Education
Our staff is prepared to provide our patients, residents
and families with a wide variety of educational information
(brochures, instructional handouts, videos and discussion)
to help them understand their condition and prepare for
the future. If at any time you have questions,
just ask your nurse and he/she will help or will contact
someone who can. Patients being discharged from
Halifax Regional Hospital are given a discharge packet,
which includes information useful for continued recovery. Residents
of our long-term care facilities and their families are
encouraged to participate in quarterly care plan meetings
to fully understand treatment plans.
The patient channel
Patients in Halifax Regional Hospital have access to
The Patient Channel, a 24 hour patient education
tool providing information covering a wide spectrum of
common chronic diseases, conditions and care topics such
as cancer, asthma, diabetes, heart disease, high blood
pressure, smoking cessation, parenting, patient safety,
medication use, nutrition and more.
Schedules are available in each room. Just turn the
TV to channel 68.
