The diabetes group classes
The diabetes group classes at Halifax Regional Hospital are available to help you and your loved ones learn more about diabetes. There is no cost for the classes. Each series of classes covers eight hours of material on managing diabetes. Although it is best to attend all eight hours in one month, you can always make up any lost class time if you are unable to attend. The topics covered include the following:

  • Diabetes overview.
  • Medications.
  • Self monitoring blood glucose.
  • Exercise.
  • Nutrition and meal planning.
  • Complications of diabetes.
  • Stress management.
  • Behavior change.

Families are encouraged to attend.
