Publications
The Woodview's Resident's Handbook, published in
1992, is a book written and illustrated by and for the residents
themselves. It provides an orientation for newcomers to help
them know what to expect when they come to The Woodview to
live.
Who can better relate to these events than the people who
experience them? The Woodview Whistle is a monthly
newsletter distributed and mailed to residents, staff, families,
volunteers and friends of The Woodview, including businesses,
churches and civic organizations.
The resident art club does all of the illustrations, and
each department in The Woodview provides appropriate information.
Articles include topics on The Woodview's activities: education;
employees; the monthly activity calendar; special events;
residents' rights; The Woodview's purpose, vision and values;
and other information of interest to the residents, staff,
families and the community.
Do Preachers Really Like Fried Chicken? a book which
gained national attention when it was featured on National
Public Radio's "All Things Considered" in November
1991, was written and illustrated by The Woodview residents.
This whimsical account of recipes and remedies, as told by
the residents, has delighted more than 3,000 people nationwide.
The Woodview continues to collect memories of the residents
as they relate their past experiences and share their wisdom
in reminiscent groups. We anxiously await their next publication.
As we strive to provide life-enriching experiences for the
residents, our own lives are blessed for having known them.
The Bulletin is published monthly by the staff
of Seasons at The Woodview. This newsletter contains
updates on resident activities, family and support group
meetings, upcoming events and also includes helpful information
concerning Alzheimer’s Disease.
Voice From the Meadow is the newsletter published
by the staff of MeadowView Terrace. With photos of
special events and artwork done by the residents, this monthly
journal includes information about upcoming events as well
as news from each department.
